Multiplier sport events: Promoting Gender Equality in Tennis in Sofia and Stip

As part of the “Game, Set, Equality” project, two exciting multiplier sport events were held in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Stip, North Macedonia, bringing together tennis enthusiasts, sports professionals and community members to celebrate and promote gender equality in tennis.

These events, held in September 2024, were designed to share the results of the project, showcase key deliverables, and inspire greater female participation in tennis coaching and officiating. With more than 40 participants from diverse backgrounds, the events provided a unique platform to highlight the importance of promoting women’s roles in tennis and sports in general.

The events were filled with engaging activities, including:

• Presentations and discussions – key deliverables from the “Game, Set, Equality” project were shared, including the Integrated Gender Equality Report, the Mentoring program, and the Motivational videos featuring successful female tennis coaches and officials. These resources aim to inspire and empower women to pursue careers in coaching, officiating, and leadership roles in tennis.
• Tennis demonstrations – participants had the opportunity to witness live tennis demonstrations, showcasing the skills and leadership of both male and female coaches and officials. 
• Networking and collaboration – the events provided an invaluable opportunity for attendees to network with professionals from tennis clubs, local organizations, and educational institutions. The focus was on sharing best practices, creating a sense of 
• community, and fostering collaboration to continue driving gender equality in sports.

The events were a resounding success in raising awareness of gender equality in tennis, with participants leaving inspired and motivated to contribute to a more inclusive sport. The events reinforced the importance of creating opportunities for women in tennis coaching and officiating and emphasized the need for sports clubs and organizations to implement gender-inclusive practices.
